Emerson Goodwin is the Executive Director of Bridges to Wellness of Siloam Springs, Arkansas a nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and wellness in its communities. Bridges to Wellness defines its work in two buckets, Health System Integration, to improve health service delivery especially for the uninsured and under insured and Health and Wellness promotion to drive consumer health behavior change.
Before joining Bridges to Wellness, Goodwin co-founded Building Healthier America a national nonprofit dedicated to creating consumer and community change to end obesity. While there he directed the promotion of the High Five For Men's Health Campaign that reached 30 million consumers. He also served as the Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs for Shaping America's Health, a national nonprofit organization committed to preventing and treating excess weight and obesity, and facilitating a better scientific understanding of weight management.
Goodwin has directed the development and execution of nonprofit programs at the local, state and national levels. Before joining Shaping America's Health, he served as the Director of Programs at the Care Foundation, a health conversion foundation with an endowed corpus of $150 million. In addition, Goodwin directed Wal-Mart and SAM'S Club Foundation increasing its giving from $50 million to more than $100 million.
While serving as the Director of Development and Communications for Camp Fire USA, he created and executed Camp Fire's first Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, a nationwide promotion encouraging adults to write a loving letter to the children in their lives. The campaign received a PRSA Silver Anvil Award.
Goodwin's nonprofit career began with the American Cancer Society, where he was credited with developing the Maryland Division's, Adopt-A-Smoker campaign that became a national theme for the national American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout.
Goodwin holds a Master's degree in the Science of Management from Baker University, and a Bachelor of Special Studies from Cornell College.
